Why should I join the PPA?Joining your local association is one of the most important career decisions you can make. The Broward ParaProfessionals Association provides its members with many members-only benefits. By joining the PPA, you belong to a professional association that focuses solely on providing its members with the best in services. Only members of the PPA receive among the best liability insurance plans in the event they unexpectedly need it in the performance of their duties. The association also provides its members with excellent grievance and legal representation for issues involving their employment. When a member chooses to join the PPA, they choose to invest in their career. The Association's leaders and staff work hard to make sure all members are protected in the workplace and receive the best services possible in a timely manner. Back to TopWhy do PPA members have to pay dues?PPA members pay dues as investment in their job.
Paying dues is a way to make sure PPA members continue to get paid in a fair and timely manner. Back to TopWhy do PPA members and nonmembers receive the same contract benefits? While Team PPA members and nonmembers may receive a few of the same contract benefits, nonmembers do not receive association representation when it comes to enforcement of the bargaining agreement. If a nonmember believes he or she has been wronged in the workplace, they are on their own to try and enforce the contract's benefits. On the other-hand, PPA members receive the professional and experienced representation of the Association's leaders and staff. They have years of experiencing negotiating contracts, but equally important, enforcing its provisions on behalf of members. Back to TopHow are dues dollars spent?Every penny of the Association's dues dollars goes through a careful review process by the organization's leaders to make sure it is wisely spent on behalf of the membership. Dues dollars pay for PPA's day-to-day operations such as negotiations, contract enforcement, communications, and many other services. A portion of the money also goes to the local Association's state and national affiliates. The money is then returned to Broward County to help pay for organization's staff who work their very hardest each day for all members. Back to TopWho runs the PPA?The members of the Broward ParaProfessionals Association have complete control of their own organization through their elected representatives. Each year, every member has the opportunity to elect union leaders who must represent the best interests of all members. The Association's leaders take great pride in maintaining a high level of communication with all members. Back to TopHow do I join the PPA?It's easy!
